One of the first rough designs for the monument photos hopped onto the original proposed location in Ballinacurra. Since then a new design by sculptor Matt Thompson has been agreed by the committee and a new location for the monument in Ballinacurra has also been agreed.

Eugene Furlong visited the graves of Edward & Ann Bransfield who were buried at the Extra-Mural Cemetery, Brighton where much invaluable information about Edward’s burial were offered by staff members.
The first gathering took place to mark the anniversary of Bransfield’s discovery at Jacko’s of Ballinacurra. Hopes are to make this a annual event known as Edward Bransfield Day.
