The Cork Independent was planning to publish a supplement specifically to promote business and local Midleton Community projects. Upon hearing of our project they were very keen to lean more, and interview Eugene. The only known descent of Edward’s brother so far discovered, Eliesa Gallo, photographed we met at Cobh last summer.

Bransfield exhibition goes on display in the Library Head Quarters on the Carrigrohane Road. It remained there until September 22nd.
The passing out of ‘Class Bransfield’ at Haulbowline Naval Base took place. Eugene Furlong was so honored to be there to represent the ‘Remembering Edward Bransfield’ Committee.
Jim Wilson gave a very well received lecture about Edward Bransfield to recruit class Bransfield at the Naval Base of Haulbowline.
Our event of the 25th August 2017, entitled ‘Remembering Edward Bransfield’, held at Midleton Library as part of Cork County Council “Heritage Week” celebrations, was an exhibition of display board posters documenting various aspects of Edward Bransfield’s life, researched and written by our various committee members.
